You do not have to translate who you are to be helped here. — Do Mi Sol Counseling
Before becoming a clinical therapist, I spent 25 years in music education.
What music taught me wasn’t just rhythm and pitch — it was listening itself: how to hear the emotion beneath the words, how to find the note that can hold the chaos. The name Do Mi Sol carries that belief — that therapy isn’t a formula to apply, but something closer to improvisation, adjusting to whatever rhythm you’re in right now.
Support shaped around your season of life.
Whether the concern is showing up at school, at home, in a relationship, or quietly within yourself, therapy begins by understanding the whole person.

“Choosing a therapist should feel like finding someone who understands both what you are carrying and where it comes from.”
I’m Yuki Liao, a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the East Bay. Before clinical work, I spent 25 years in music education — the inspiration behind the name Do Mi Sol, and a practice that still shapes how I listen and attune. I’ve also worked directly in schools, so I understand firsthand what families are up against in the education system, and I help families navigate IEP and 504 Plan advocacy.
With a Taiwanese background, I support children, teens, adults, parents, and families navigating emotional challenges, cultural identity, intergenerational conflict, and life transitions.
My work is client-centered, trauma-informed, and grounded in advocacy — so you can feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the healing process.

Care for bicultural and immigrant experiences
Build on what is already resilient within you
Care that sees the whole story.
Symptoms matter, but so do family systems, culture, language, school, work, relationships, and the experiences that shaped how you learned to cope.
Start with safety and trust
Therapy moves at a pace that respects your readiness. The first goal is not to “fix” you—it is to create a space where you can be honest without judgment.
Understand the pattern beneath the problem
Together, we explore what the anxiety, behavior, conflict, or burnout may be protecting—and what it is asking you to notice.
Build practical, sustainable change
Sessions combine emotional insight with tools for regulation, communication, boundaries, connection, and day-to-day decision making.
Honor culture without being limited by it
You can respect family and culture while also creating a life, identity, and set of relationships that feel genuinely yours.
You deserve support before things become unbearable.
People come to therapy for many reasons. You do not need a perfect explanation — or a crisis — to begin.
